About
After almost three years of war, the number of injured combat veterans in Ukraine has increased dramatically, with estimates of more than 300,000 newly disabled. Reintegration of these veterans into society, in economically productive roles, has become an issue critical to Ukraine’s long-term stability. Many face difficulties, both physical and mental, often unique to those injured in war. Addressing these challenges is both a humanitarian imperative and essential for Ukraine's social cohesion and long-term growth.
The US-PL-UA Veterans Reintegration Forum is a knowledge-sharing conference dedicated to tackling these issues. Its objective is the exchange of knowledge and expertise on the most significant challenges faced by veterans when attempting to return to civilian life and rejoin the economy. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, the forum aims to develop effective solutions that enable veterans to swiftly and efficiently reintegrate into society and rejoin the workforce, thereby contributing to Ukraine's economic recovery and regional stability.
The United States has strongly supported Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s full-scale invasion. Poland has repeatedly demonstrated both the willingness and capability to play a central role in Ukraine’s economic recovery and is the geographic hub for almost all assistance to Ukraine. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of the United States, Poland, and Ukraine to support Ukraine's economic recovery and create conditions that allow Ukrainian disabled veterans and civilians to reintegrate into society, secure employment and make meaningful contributions to the nation’s economy.
